A little bit about me

This is me:  I’m Angela Port, a wedding celebrant, based in Dunedin, New Zealand. I love a good roadie (it’s the only place I can sing to my heart’s content and not be told to shhh) so I am absolutely willing to travel to wherever you have your heart set on marrying your favourite person. I love shoes, cheese and love in all it’s amazing forms. I’m married and have a son, so I understand the demands of family life, and trying to fit everything in. I love a good story, meeting new people and I’m not afraid of realing in Great Aunty Fanny if she looks like she’s getting out of line. I understand that you may or may not have a vision of how you want your wedding ceremony to look, and I want you to think about how you want your ceremony to feel.  Because that is what you and your guests will remember.

My journey to becoming a celebrant

I became a celebrant in 2013, after being the MC at my friend’s wedding. I discovered that I loved the process of crafting the reception speeches, to create a monologue that would honour not only the occasion, but also entertain the guests and reflect my friends personalities, their friends, family and love story. I loved it so much I wanted to know how I could do more of this, and that began my journey to become a celebrant. I have always been someone who is positive, enthusiastic and wanting to do things a little bit out of the box, and I saw wedding ceremonies which were lack lustre and seemed to be missing any type of fun or personality.  Not to mention ceremonies where guests were and too afraid to laugh or applaud, I knew I wanted to help offer couples something more bespoke for their special celebration.

Why choose me as your celebrant?

I believe that life should be lived full of love, fun and celebration. I know weddings are one of life’s biggest celebration, but I am also an advocate for living your whole life expressing and sharing your love, making everyday fun memories and celebrating everything., the big, the small or the fact that it’s Friday!  So with that in mind I aim to provide you with information and inspiration to do that. I have married gorgeous couples in a huge variety of locations from beaches to farms to inner city apartment to castles. And I will never tire of seeing a bride walk down the aisle and the look on her face when she sees her special someone grinning back at her.  #allthe feels  So if you’re interested in a ceremony which reflects your story and your personalities then let me know.  Your ceremony actually sets the tone for the entire day, so you want someone who can read the crowd and get everyone amped to celebrate this amazing thing that you are doing, GETTING MARRIED!!
